01 The figure
A line drawn
in motion.
The violinist is built around a long diagonal: one arm draws the bow across the body while the other holds the instrument high and close. The narrow waist, sharp lapels and tapered legs keep the silhouette light despite the sculpture's solid resin construction.
From the rear and profile, the figure reads almost as a calligraphic stroke. The instrument becomes the horizontal counter-line to the body's vertical reach, giving the piece a different character from every viewing angle.
The most slender gesture in the ensemble — a figure that seems to lift the room with it.
